What happens next
You tell us what's going on
Where you're seeing mold or smelling mustiness, roughly how large the area looks, and what caused the water, if you know: a slab or plumbing leak, a roof leak after hail, a cooler or AC drip, or flooding.
We usually reply the same day
We confirm your details and whether you're looking for an assessment, remediation quotes, or both.
Independent licensed pros contact you
We connect you with TDLR-licensed mold assessors and remediators that serve your town. In Texas, the assessor and the remediator on the same project must be separate companies.
You compare and decide
Ask each company for its TDLR license number, check it on TDLR's license search, and choose who to hire, or no one at all.
Helpful details to note before you call
- Which rooms or areas are affected: attic, ceiling, walls, floors, bathroom, HVAC or evaporative cooler
- When you first noticed it and whether the water source has been fixed
- Rough size of the visible area (Texas's licensing threshold is 25 contiguous square feet)
- Whether the home has had hail, roof or flood damage recently, and whether you've opened an insurance claim
We don't diagnose mold from descriptions or photos. A licensed assessor evaluates the home in person and writes the remediation protocol; a separate licensed remediator does the work; and a licensed assessor confirms clearance. When the job is done, the owner receives a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation (TDI form MDR-1) within 10 days. Our process page explains each step.
What will it cost?
Your quote is free. The real price comes from licensed pros after an on-site assessment. As a rough guide, cost guides list a typical mold remediation job at $1,200–$3,750 and a mold inspection at $450–$800 (typical national ranges from cost guides, 2024–2026, not quotes). For jobs of 25 or more contiguous square feet, budget for two separate licensed firms: an assessor and a remediator. See the full mold remediation cost guide.
Free quote questions
Is the quote really free?
Yes. Requesting quotes through Lubbock Mold Remediation costs nothing, and you are never obligated to hire anyone. The companies you talk to set their own prices. A mold inspection or assessment is a separate paid service that a licensed assessor performs and prices, so ask each company what its quote includes before you agree to any work.
Will one company test and clean my home?
No. Texas Occupations Code §1958.155 says the assessor and the remediator on the same project must be separate, and no one may own an interest in both. For jobs that need licensed work, expect to hear from a licensed assessor for the protocol and clearance and a separate licensed remediator for the cleanup. This is general information, not legal advice.
What if my mold patch looks small?
EPA's mold guide says areas under about 10 square feet can often be handled yourself, as long as the water problem is fixed. Texas's licensing threshold is different: a hired company needs a license once the job reaches 25 contiguous square feet. Homeowners working on their own home are exempt at any size. If you're unsure how big it is, a licensed assessor can tell you.
